On 21 May 2010 Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko and Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin Professor Stanisław Gucma, Master Mariner, opened a Conference-Seminar devoted to the Republic of Poland’s maritime policy, to be the key point of celebrating the European Maritime Day (EMD) in Szczecin (Poland). The conference was organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Maritime University of Szczecin, in cooperation with Marshal of the West Pomerania Province, Governor of the West Pomerania Province, President of the City of Szczecin, Maritime Office in Szczecin, and Shortsea Shipping Promotion Centre Poland.
During the conference, Viceminister A. Wypych-Namiotko, Vice-chairwoman of the Interdepartmental Group for maritime policy of the Republic of Poland, presented a display „Maritime policy of the Republic of Poland in the works on the development strategy of the country”.
The conference was also attended by a representative of the Directorate General - the European Commission for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) Torsten Klimke, who presented a display „The EU’s Integrated Maritime Policy and the EU’s Maritime transport Strategy until 2018”.
Among the panelists, there were representatives of the Sejm, West Pomerania Province, City of Szczecin, Interoceanmetal Joint Organisation, maritime societies and trade unions.
During the conference, A. Wypych-Namiotko presented Professor Stanisław Gucma with a Long Service Golden Medal, awarded by Acting President of the Republic of Poland, Marshal of the Sejm, Bronisław Komorowski, and congratulatory letter from Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk.
Viceminister A. Wypych-Namiotko invited all present at the conference to take part in European Maritime Day 2011 next year in Gdańsk.
