All interested parties from martitime sector in Poland are asked to note that the call for submission of offers to take part in a trade economic mission to China is 25 April 2010. The mission will take place between June 5-12, 2010, to tie with EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. It is organised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Devlopment (PARP) in co-operation with the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai.

The mission is intended to promote Polish maritime industry in China and help Polish entrepreneurs establish economic relations with Chinese partners. It is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Participants may attend match-making sessions which will enable them to present their own companies and the principal business activities of the Polish maritime sector to potential Chinese partners. During the sessions every Polish entrepreneur will have the opportunity to meet and talk to at least three business partners from China. Chinese companies, which will take part in the sessions, are recruited by the China Commission for the Promotion of International Trade.

The mission will visit, among other places, Shanghai, a city which has one of the biggest sea ports in the world and ranks among South China’s major economic centres. Its participants will come to present their offer on a Polish stand organised by the Trade and Investment Promotion Section by the Polish Embassy in Shanghai for the logistic trade fairs Transport&Logistics China.

During the mission, Polish entrepreneurs will also participate in meetings with representatives of chambers of commerce and associations which are involved in the field of production, import and maritime international trade.

Participants of the mission cover travel and accommodation costs i.e. plane ticket and hotel fees (around USD 120). Those participating in the mission may count on support in all organisational matters on the part of representatives from PARP and the Shanghai-based Trade and Investment Promotion Section.

Shanghai is the largest centre of industry in China. One of its highest ambitions is to organise World Exhibition EXPO 2010, expecting to receive even 70 mln visitors. In recent years, the city has become the centre of trade and site of international companies to control business activities within the Jangcy Delta. Main branches of business activity in the province of Shanghai are petrochemistry, port industry, tourism and jewellery. The area is also known for favourable economic climate fostered by the local authorities as well as long tradition of international cooperation. Shanghai, among Chinese cities, is the second after Beijing most important centre for trade relations with Poland.

Poland is China’s the biggest economic partner in Central Europe. Poland’s entry into the European Union influenced to a much extend the growth of interest in the Polish market and resulted in Polish products being considered as products of high, European quality, but cheaper than their counterparts from Western Europe.
