Warsaw, 25 January 2010, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Juliusz Engelhardt took part in the panel devoted to railway transport in Poland, organized within a special economic forum entitled „We Change Polish Industry”.
J. Engelhardt said that the railway reform, started by the entry into force of the act on commercialisation, restructuring and privatisation of the state enterprise „Polish Railway Lines” in 2000, by virtue of which PKP Group was established, did not produce the expected results. First of all, PKP Polish Railway Lines, i.e. rail infrastructure administrator, has not been separated from PKP Group. PKP’s debt is also waiting to be solved.
During the discussion, the debaters talked about the market of rail carriages, cargo as well as passenger ones, access prices for rail infrastructure, and intermodal transport.
