Vilnius (Lithuania), 19 October 2009, Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk took part in the ASEM Transport Ministers Meeting. ASEM (Asia Europe Meeting) is an cooperation forum of EU Member Countries and South and East Asia countries. The meeting was organised to start a close transport cooperation between ASEM members, including the development of Euro-Asian transport corridors. In his speech, Minister C. Grabarczyk found it necessary to foster land transport between Europe and Asia, especially railway transport.
In addition, Minister C. Grabarczyk took part in bilateral and multilateral discussions, e.g. ministerial meeting focused on „Rail Baltica”. During the meeting, the participants declared to continue the project given the present review of TEN-T foundations.
Minister C. Grabarczyk and Minister of Transport and Communications Eligijus Masiulis (Lithuania) signed the contract between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Lithuania on cooperation in air and maritime search and rescue service.
Minister C. Grabarczyk also met with Minister of Transport Li Shengline (China). During the meeting, they discussed the issues related to the cooperation in transport and infrastructure.
Moreover, the Minister met with Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Transport Antonio Tajani, and Minister for Communications Åsa Torstensson (Sweden). They discussed the issues related to the future transport policy in the Community, and new guidelines for TEN-T. During the meeting with Minister for Transport, Building and Urban Development Wolfgang Tiefensee, Minister C. Grabarczyk discussed transport cooperation between Poland and Germany, and presented the key objectives for the future.
