On 24 October 2011 in Geneva, ITU Telecom World 2011 has been launched. It is one of the biggest telecommunication events gathering representatives of public administrations, international organizations and private companies in the world.

On 24-25 October 2011 in Krakow, the Eastern Partnership Transport Panel will be launched at the second informal mnisterial meeting under the Polish EU Presidency.

EU ministers of telecommunications adopted a joint statement on a better use of radio spectrum closing a Polish Presidency conference devoted to the development prospects of the EU electronic communications sector.

On 14 October 2011, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Maciej Jankowski took part in the inauguration ceremony of the Office of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC Office) in its full operational capacity in its new premises in Riga, Latvia. The opening ceremony was attended by, among others, President of the Republic of Latvia Andris Bērziņš, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes, Prime Minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis and Chair of BEREC for 2011 Chris Fonteijn.

On 11 October 2011, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Andrzej Massel, switching on the green light semaphore, inaugurated the 9th TRAKO International Railway Fair in Gdańsk.

Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Transport Siim Kallas, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ivanov, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Tony Tyler and Governor of Saint Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko took part in the EU-Russia Aviation Summit on 12-13 October 2011, Saint Petersburg (Russia).

There is no doubt that the maritime sector is of particular importance for the world economy as well as for national economies. It is worthwhile to say that the power of this sector depends on the people involved in it. The human factor is indispensable and irreplaceable. That is why, there is a need to pay particular attention to the people working in the maritime industry, especially to those at sea in the European Union - said Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko during a seminar "Maritime professions for blue growth – education, mobility and adaptability", which was held on 11 October 2011 in the European Parliament on the initiative of Member of the European Parliament Jan Kozłowski with active participation of representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

On 4 October 2011, EU ministers for maritime transport took part in the 7th meeting of the Network of High Level National Focal Points for the Integrated Maritime Policy(HLFP) to explore the ways to stimulate economic growth, innovations and employment in the maritime sector, integration of maritime surveillance systems, constituting (apart from marine knowledge and maritime spatial planning) an instrument of the EU’s Integrated Maritime Policy and strengthening the role and importance of the HLFP group.

In the European Union, an European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) is being introduced. EETS covers all the road networks and tolled infrastructure in the European Union on which road usage is declared electronically by means of an on board unit. Commission Decision 2009/750/EC of 6 October 2009 defines the allowed technological solutions for carrying out electronic toll transactions.
