1. The Bureau for Crisis Management and Protection of Classified Information conducts the affairs related to crisis management and protection of classified information in the Ministry and provides servicing to the Plenipotentiary for the Protection of Classified Information, and also implementation of IT-based systems into the Ministry.

2. The Bureau executes the tasks of the Minister under the following provisions:
1) the crisis management act;
2) the act on protection of classified information;
3) the natural disaster act;
4) the state of emergency act;
5) the act on general defence obligation of the Republic of Poland;
6) the act on strategic reserves, to the exclusion of the affairs conducted by the Department for Facility Management Regulations I;
7) the act on national defence tasks executed by businesspeople;
8) the state reserves act;
9) the act on protection of people and property;
10) the act on martial law and competence of commander-in-chief and rules of its subordination to constitutional organs of the Republic of Poland.

3) The Bureau conducts the affairs related to:
1) crisis management, national defence and security;
2) civil defence;
3) control of defence tasks implemented by dependent and supervised entities, and businesspeople obliged by the Minister to execute defence tasks under administrative decisions.

4. The Bureau executes the tasks of the minister for transport under the following provisions:
1) the act on public roads, as regards the list of roads and preparation of roads for national defence;
2) the railway transport act, as regards national defence and security, or public order and security;
3) the transport law, as regards defence, national security or natural disasters;
4) the arms and ammunition act, in cooperation with competent units of the Ministry.

5. The Bureau exectutes the tasks of the minister for construction, spatial development and housing under the act on spatial development and planning, as regards national defence and security.

6. The Bureau conducts administrative proceedings related to the competence of the Minister under the following provisions:
1) the act on protection of people and property, as regards registers of areas, buildings and facilities of compulsory defence;
2) the act on national defence tasks executed by businesspeople, as regards the businesspeople of particular significance for national economy and defence;
3) regulation of the Council of Mnisters on establishment, management and administration and funding for state reserves, control and development of information system for economic reserves, as regards mobilisation reserves.

7. The Bureau also conducts the affairs related to:
1) protection of classified information, including the physical security measures;
2) protection of IT systems, which process classified information;
3) risk management and classified information security, especially risk assessment;
4) control of classified information protection and observance of provisions on such protection;
5) periodic control of records, materials and circulation of documents containing classified information;
6) drafting and updating schedule of classified information protection in the Ministry;
7) conducting ordinary and control proceedings to check the employees of the Ministry;
8) register of the people, employed or executing outsourced activities, which have permission to access classified information, and the people who have been refused or revoked a security clearance;
9) staff training in the field of classified information;
10) cooperation with the Internal Security Agency and Military Counterintelligence Service, including transmission of data listed in the act on protection of classified information;
11) security in the Ministry’s buildings by granting permissions for protected zones, and issuing ID badges authorising to enter and move around the Ministry;
12) IT systems and subsystems, and databases;
13) computer resources and networks, and IT system;
14) purchase of hardware and software, and administration of hardware and software licences.

8. The Bureau contains the unit of classified information protection, which is managed by the Plenipotentiary for classified infirmation protection, and the Confidential Office and Confidential Office for Foreign Affairs, directly subordinate to the Plenipotentiary.
