Brussels, 23 January 2012, Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak briefed Poland’s achievements in the field of transport (land, air and maritime) and horizontal issues during its six-month EU presidency at a meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN).

- If we want to make our construction in line with the contemporary requirements, we should take more concrete actions today - wrote in his letter Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Transport Sławomir Nowak addressed to the organisers, exhibitors and visitors of BUDMA International Construction Fair on 24 January 2012 in Poznań. The first day of the exhibition was attended by deputy ministers: Janusz Żbik - construction, and Piotr Styczeń - housing.

Brest, 20 January 2012, Poland and Belarus concluded an intergovernmental agreement on inland navigation.

- Poland has been and will be a stable partner for China in the European Union, the Baltic Region, and Central and Eastern Europe. Economic and intellectual potential in Poland gives a good opportunity to develop business relations and implement Chinese maritime projects in Poland - said Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritme Economy Anna Wypych-Namiotko during a Polish-Chinese Economic Forum, 21 December 2011 in Beijing (China). Deputy Minister A. Wypych-Namiotko visited China between 17 and 22 December 2011 with the official delegation led by President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski.

Brussels, 12 December 2011, Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak chaired the second and last meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (TTE) under the Polish Presidency of the EU Council.

On 5 December 2011, Regulation (EU) No 1255/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 November 2011 establishing a Programme to support the further development of an Integrated Maritime Policy (IMP) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, and came into force on 6 December 2011.

Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak met with Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner in charge of Transport Siim Kallas at the the High Level Conference on the Implementation of the Single European Sky and its extension to Third Countries on 28 November 2011 in Warsaw.

On 28 November 2011, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy met with the Chinese delegation led by Vice-Chairman of the China Economic and Social Council (CESC) Xu Zhenhuan. CESC plays the role of a consultant to the Chinese Government and service provider in a bid to promote the coordinated economic and social development, and build a harmonious society. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the issues related to the sustainable spatial development of urban areas.

On 28 November 2011, Undersecretary of State Andrzej Massel met at the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy with Prime Minister of Brandenburg Matthias Platzeck to discuss the issues related to the cross-border rail transport agreement between Poland and Germany, and modernisation of rail routes: Berlin - Szczecin and Berlin - Wrocław.
