European Commission’s review of international roaming

Almost three quarters of Europeans are worried about the cost of using their mobile phone when travelling in the EU a survey released by the European Commission on 14 February 2011 shows. 72% of travellers still limit their roaming calls because of high charges even if a majority is aware that prices have fallen since 2006. Only 19% of people who use internet-related services on their mobile phones when abroad think the costs of data-roaming are fair.
Safer Internet Day: Empowering and Protecting Children Online

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2011, the European Commission announced on 8 February 2011 that it will bring together stakeholders of ICT industry and children's organisations to encourage the design of safer products to help keep children safe online.
EU Transport Ministers Informal Meeting

Ministers responsible for transport from the EU member states met in Budapest and the Gödöllő Royal Castle (Hungary) for an informal Council meeting. The meeting, organised by the Hungarian Presidency, was attended by the Polish delegation led by Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk and Undersecretary of State Maciej Jankowski.
ECMT licences for transport operations between Poland and Russia

The Transport Management Board of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) held in Paris its extraordinary meeting on 1 February 2011. During the meeting, the Russian side agreed to withdraw restrictions imposed in September 2010 on the ECMT licences for Polish hauliers to travel through the territory of Russian Federation. As a result, all the ECMT licences are vaild for transport operations to and from RF.

Poland meets the criteria for Low Risk Ships

The New Inspection Regime (NIR) of the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (PMoU) is effective from 1 January 2011 in the area of the EU Member Countries and Canada, Russia, Norway and Croatia. Ships calling at each member State will be selected for a periodic inspections on the basis of the Ship Risk Profile. Low Risk Ships (LRS) will be subject to less frequent inspections (every 24-36 months), and High Risk Ships (HRS) will be subject to more in-depth and more frequent inspections (every 5-6 months).
