All interested parties from martitime sector in Poland are asked to note that the call for submission of offers to take part in a trade economic mission to China is 25 April 2010. The mission will take place between June 5-12, 2010, to tie with EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. It is organised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Devlopment (PARP) in co-operation with the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai.

IMO audit of Polish Maritime Administration

On 12 April 2010 the Ministry of Infrastructure hosted a meeting to launch an audit of the Polish maritime administration, a so called VIMSAS - Voluntary IMO Member State Audit Scheme. This will be performed by the auditors from International Maritime Organisation: John Hannon, Sibrand Hassing and Jens Uwe-Schroeder. The meeting was attended by Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko and representatives of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Ministry of National Defence, and Ministry of the Environment.

Support for development of telecommunications services and networks

On 8 April 2010, the Sejm passed an act on the support for development of telecommunications services and networks. The act establishes a legal framework for universal access to telecommunications services, especially broadband access. It includes comprehensive solutions to make it easier for investing in telecommunications and developing competition in the market. The new regulations have been passed to boost up investment potential of local authorities.
Sejm passes new Telecommunications Law

On 8 April 2010, the Sejm passed an act amending the act of 16 July 2004 - the Telecommunications Law. Under the new regulations, pre-paid users will become full subscribers of telecoms services. As a result, pre-paid users will have the same rights as the rest of subscribers, e.g. the right to have an entry in a publicly available directory, the right to receive non-itemised bills, and some rights regarding the presentation of calling line identification or the possibility to stop automatic call forwarding.

Of course, we believe that the crumple zones work, we believe that the airbags work, and we also believe that protective cages for vehicles work, but first of all, the most important thing is to think before road accident happens - and not after, and especially start thinking instead of speeding - said Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Radosław Stępień on 24 March 2010 at the conference launching the campaign “Speeding kills. Start thinking”, organised by the National Road Safety Council (KRBRD).
