„This is exactly today that I have been with the Ministry for two years”, said Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek on 31 October 2007, during his press conference summarising two years of the Ministry. „We have increased EU funding absorption by 1200 times within the last two years, and we have also drafted Programme for Construction of National Roads in 2008-2012, first good and solid governmental programme after 1989”, he added.

System of registration for imported vehicles from EU changed

From 25 December 2007 on, in order to register imported vehicles from EU, one is obliged to produce registration documents if a vehicle has been registered before. Accordingly, other documents than those mentioned above will be invalid. All registration procedures under way before 25 December 2007 are in compliance with the provisions valid so far.

„It is for the first time that the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has concluded a contract for a road construction with a consortium of the Polish companies, without a foreign capital”, said Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek on 26 October 2007 in the Ministry after he signed the contract for conversion of National Road DK7 to parameters of Expressway S7: Grójec – Białobrzegi. „We are also glad to see the Czech company that is going to build a tunnel on Expressway S69”, added the Minister after he signed the contract for construction of Expressway S69: Bielsko Biała – Żywiec – Zwardoń on section: Szare – Laliki.
Ordinance on exam for advisers on rail carriage of dangerous goods

The ordinance of the Minister of Transport amending the Ordinance on exam for advisers on carriage of dangerous goods by rail and advisors on safety in carriage of dangerous goods by rail shall come into force on 26 October 2007. The ordinance, signed by the Minister of Transport on 16 October 2007, was published in the Journal of Laws No. 193 item 1400, 19 October 2007.

On 18 October 2007, Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek met with the Czech Minister of Transport Aleą Řebiček. The Ministers, during the conclusion of contract for construction of Motorway A1: Świerklany – Gorzyczki, settled that Polish Motorway A1 and Czech Motorway D1 (now D47) will come together in 2010.

„The next contract for construction of Motorway A1 has been signed today, which will connect Poland with Czech Republic by means of a TEN-T corridor. Thus, Polish Motorway A1 and Czech Motorway D47 will have 900km total”, said Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek on 18 October 2007 in Katowice. The Polish Minister along with the Czech Minister of Transport Ales Řebiček took part in the contract conclusion for construction of Motorway A1: Świerklany – Gorzyczki (border crossing with Czech Republic), and operation of Cohesion Fund in construction of Motorway A1: Bełk – Świerklany.
Credit Agreement for Silesian Intercity Bypass Road Route

Ambassador Egidijus Meilūnas brought the letter of the Lithuanian authorities which said Lithuania would join the issue C-193/07 – the European Commission against Poland, Lithuania supports Poland.
