Warsaw, 11 June 2010, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Maciej Jankowski and Secretary General Fernand Desmyter signed the Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Republic of Poland and the Flemish Ministry for Mobility and Public Works.

Between 7 and 8 June 2010 Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko stayed in Shanghai (China) as a honorary guest of maritime economic mission to EXPO 2010. The mission was organised by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development under the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure, in cooperation with the Commissioner General of the Polish Section of EXPO 2010.
UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020

The United Nations has called the years 2011-2020 a ‘Decade of Action for Road Safety’ with the goal to stabilise and then reduce road deaths around the world by 2020 by increasing activities conducted at the national, regional and global levels. Every year, from 20 to 50 million people are injured, many diabled as a result. The economic and social costs are huge, and to the detriment of sustainable development.

From 1 to 2 June 2010, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko took part in 12th Baltic Development Forum (BDF) in Vilnius (Lithuania). This year, the aim of the summit was to focus on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, its economic development, climate change, marine environment and water transport.

The European Commission will soon start its works on an evaluation report of Marco Polo II Programme. The report will provide the guidelines for the Programme after 2013. To identify the most favourable market trends and make a viewpoint on the Programme, the Ministry of Infrastructure has launched a national consultation on Marco Polo II and possible Marco Polo III.

The Ministry of Infrastructure informs that the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission (DG MARE) launched an open call for tenders to conclude a service contract for a study on the drivers for sustainable growth from the oceans, seas and coastal regions and maritime sectors.
Telecommunications Ministers back the new European Digital Agenda

31 May 2010, the Council of Ministers of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy approved a document of conclusions supporting the European Digital Agenda at its telecommunications session in Brussels. The ministers form 27 EU Member Countries also decided that the Office of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) would be based in Riga (Latvia).

On 20 May 2010 Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko participated in European Maritime Day celebrated in Gijon (Spain). The event was attended by numerous representatives of the European Commission and the Council of the European Union, which is now presided by Spain. Viceminister A. Wypych-Namiotko also met with Prince of Asturias Felipe.

On 21 May 2010 Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Anna Wypych-Namiotko and Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin Professor Stanisław Gucma, Master Mariner, opened a Conference-Seminar devoted to the Republic of Poland’s maritime policy, to be the key point of celebrating the European Maritime Day (EMD) in Szczecin (Poland). The conference was organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Maritime University of Szczecin, in cooperation with Marshal of the West Pomerania Province, Governor of the West Pomerania Province, President of the City of Szczecin, Maritime Office in Szczecin, and Shortsea Shipping Promotion Centre Poland.
