Polish-Russian negotiations on international road haulage

Warsaw, 9 March 2010, a Polish-Russian meeting was held to discuss the issues related to international road haulage. The discussion, chaired by the deputy ministers for road transport: T. Jarmuziewicz (Poland) and N. Ljamow (Russia), was focused on the road haulage operator licences for the year 2010. The negotiators reached a compromise.

Price elasticity of demand and supply induced the primary market, but most of all secondary market to let the real estate sector go through the economic slowdown quite gently. Political transformation in Poland after 1989, thanks to privatisation of housing supplies, provided citizens with an opportunity to benefit from their flats at will. As a result, they did not suffer unfavourable economic phenomena in real estate market so much within the last two years - said Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Piotr Styczeń during the grand award ceremony of Developer Certificates. This year, it was accompanied by a debate on the outcomes in housing construction with regard to developers, contractors and other building companies.

As compared with other industries in Poland, the volume of construction went up last year. It was mainly financed from EU funds, and was reflected in road infrastructure projects - said Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure Olgierd Dziekoński opening the conference organised by the Construction Industry Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw, 4 March 2010. Building investors are going to rationalize and discipline their operations so as to normalize the market - added the viceminister.
Commission launches public consultation on future universal service in e-communications

The European Commission launched on 2 March 2010 a public consultation on future universal service principles in the area of electronic communications networks and services. This consultation is part of the European Commission's follow-up to its review of the scope of universal service in e-communications outlined in COM (2008) 572 of 2 March 2008, under article 15 of Directive 2002/22/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 March 2002 on universal service and users' rights relating to electronic communications networks and services (Universal Service Directive).

Warsaw, 26 February 2010, Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk met with the Chinese delegation led by Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng. The delegation visited Poland to take part in 14th session of Poland-China Economic Cooperation Commission. The meeting was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to Poland Sun Rongmin.

We hope that local authorities will use public-private partnership for the deployment of broadband internet. It wil be possible when the Parliament passes the law, which the Government approved at the beginning of November 2009. The law provides a general and flexible legal framework to foster the development of the information society by eliminating barriers to investment in network infrastructure, and consequently overcoming the digital divide based on gender, income and by locations - said Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk opening the session of the Honorary Committee of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2010 in Warsaw, 26 February 2010.
